Some Regent Theatre Melbourne restoration carving we’ve just done for Patrick at Douglas Fir Design. I’m looking forward to seeing this in place. I’ll post some photos after the install. #architecture #architectureaustralia #madeinaustralia #interiordesign #furnituredesign #madeinmelbourne #regenttheatre

A short clip of CNC turning some beautiful lights for Geri from @yos_studio . Some lovely contemporary designs showing off the beauty of the American Oak. An enjoyable project for @yos_studio ‘s upcoming A.G.M exhibition at Melbourne’s Meat Market starting this Thursday. #architecture #madeinaustralia #madeinmelbourne #australianarchitecture #architectureaustralia #furnituredesign #interiordesign

On this project we had to make a mountain range for 2400+ little windmills (pinwheels). The project was a temporary install at the Melbourne Museum for my client, Jacs from Flock Agency. it was a successful world record attempt. I was fine with machining, coating and drilling 2400 holes. The cleanup was the hardest part of the project! All the styrene offcuts and waste went to recycling and friends bean bags. 🙂 Thanks Jacs for the opportunity of doing your work. #architecture #melbournemuseum #madeinaustralia #madeinmelbourne #australianmade #exhibition #exhibitiondesign #setdesign #australianarchiteture #art #museum @flockagency

It’s always nice to visit a piece that has been installed and is in use on site. Especially if it’s the main bar top at the Portsea Hotel. American Oak was chosen for this large piece because of its dense grain and stability over time.

This is a beautiful furniture piece designed by Joseph Pringipas. I had the pleasure of machining the top section. Joseph went on to win a design award for this work. A very talented and humble young designer. Watch this space. #melbournearchitecture #madeinmelbourne #madeinaustralia #australianmade #melbournearchitecture #australianarchitecture #architecture

A little bit of machining and sculpting in the following week or so! Guinness book of records job for a customer. Can’t say what it is at the moment. 🙂

Mundane work can still be fun. Playing with big robots is never boring, even when all it’s doing is machining insulation for gas lines! This material is as hard as concrete. #madeinaustralia #australianmade #madeinmelbourne #madeinmelbourne #melbournecafe #melbournerestaurant #architecture #architectureaustralia #australianarchitecture #melbournearchitecture

A week of mould making! Cutting, Carving, sanding, spraying, sanding etc etc. Beautiful study of forms designed by Scott Parker. Enjoyable week of work. Now to cast them all! @scottparkercreative #madeinmelbourne #madeinaustralia #australianmade #melbournearchitecture #australianarchitecture #architecture

Very happy to be doing more machining for Scienceworks. I’ve been busy carving away for exhibit for teenagers opening in a few months. I’m looking forward to seeing these being used by the kids. #madeinmelbourne #madeinaustralia #australianmade #australianarchitecture #architectureaustralia #melbournearchitecture

Cutting, sanding, painting, smiling. I just finished these stools and stool tops for the very talented Kosta at Upstairs Yellow. It is great working with innovative, cutting edge designers. #madeinaustralia #australianmade #madeinmelbourne #madeinmelbourne #melbournecafe #melbournerestaurant #architecture #architectureaustralia #australianarchitecture #melbournearchitecture

After working for 2 weeks solid with engineering plastics and Urethanes I am always amazed by the beauty of raw timber. It`s good to be making a little sawdust again. #madeinmelbourne #madeinaustralia #australianmade #australianarchitecture #architecture #architectureaustralia #furniture #furnituredesign

That was a fun project! 2 weeks with very little sleep for this sculpture. It`s for a rock bands European tour. 4 metres high! It`s off to the paint shop now for the grungy details. I call it "The Big Chicken" 🙂 I love my job! #melbourneart #melbournearchitecture #australianarchitecture #madeinaustralia #madeinmelbourne #australianmade #publicart

Tony Koch of Queensland, you are a generous legend. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I purchased this 100 year old hand router through eBay and Tony was unable to deliver immediately. So he included these 2 beautifully crafted spoke shaves that his father made. They are beautiful tools and will be taken care of and put to good use. Thank you for your generosity Tony. #architecturedesign #melbournearchitecture #housedesign #madeinaustralia #madeinmelbourne #woodworking #handtools #architecture #australianmade #australianarchitecture

Just finished machining hoarding for a beautiful renovation by SkPROJECTS in Fitzroy North. Simple, elegant design. A great example where less is more. #architectureaustralia #architecture #madeinmelbourne #madeinaustralia #housedesign #melbournearchitecture #architecturedesign @sk.projects

Collaborations always bring out the best in design. Thank you Lynda Long (GSD Projects) for your inspirational and open minded approach to design. We installed these split desks/dining table into an office in town yesterday morning. Very happy with how this turned out. #melbournearchitecture #melbournecafe #melbournerestaurant #madeinaustralia #madeinmelbourne #architecture #architectureaustralia

A short video of a project that I installed in Canberra a few days ago at Endeavour House. Thanks to my father who helped a great deal on this project. Made and installed these custom desks (a huge wrap around and matching standing desk) in the city on Monday morning. Lynda Long and I worked on the design for this one off project. I wish I was there for the customer "reveal". @maxiplywood 18mm Maxibirch was used. Great material. Easy to bring to a high quality finish. #madeinmelbourne #madeinaustralia #officefurniture #furnituredesign

Here`s one of a few hundred displays that I have to make in the coming months. 30mm bamboo with laser etching and product inlays. Beautiful material. Customer was very happy. That makes me super happy!

Some more wall cladding going out the door. This was inspired by a Chesterfield couch, though not as comfy! This was a cushy job. I love Dad jokes! #woodworkingmelbourne #madeinmelbourne #madeinaustralia #architecture #melbournearchitecture #australianarchitecture All made out of #letobamboo

Free to a good home. I hate throwing useful shapes in the bin. I have hundreds of circles, rectangles and other shapes that are good for craft and other activities. Contact me if you`re interested (my local Mens shed is already full). Contact me now before the 6m skip eats them.
Cheers,
Joseph

Just checked out some of my bamboo machining handy work at Northland Shopping Centre. Feels pretty good to see it in place. There will be another 45 or so of these around Australia. The company I`m doing the machining for (who are putting these units together) is pretty switched on and have incorporated the bamboo nicely. That`s my show and tell for the day 🙂.
